And now back to our regularly scheduled programming....

Ahem. Just ignore that last post.

I can't even really explain, just, well, let's move on.

I got tagged with the 7 idiosyncracies thing a while back, and I couldn't just post them without an explanation. Trust me, I couldn't.

So, I may be covering them one at a time, with full explanation.

My mother habitually took all of the family pictures. A nice and noble thing to do, except that she did it so she wouldn't actually be in the pictures. She wasn't ugly, she was a beautiful woman. She just "had a thing" about being in the pictures. I guess her obsession could have been called mildly cute when it was happening, but it makes it very disturbing to look back at albums and wonder where your mother was.

Even worse, if she made it into a picture, which happened occasionally despite her protests, the picture that made it into the album would mysteriously be missing her. She would cut her self out of pictures, despite where she was positioned, making for some really odd pictures. (And people that didn't know her, and start looking through the pictures wonder why someone is cut out of the pictures, not always believing this simple explanation.)

Now, I have inherited her obsession. I hate being in pictures. Justin has tried to get me to overcome this, I am not ugly either. But I would much rather take pictures, than be in them.

And the one time I was caught trying to cut myself out of a picture, there was hell to pay.

Now, he hides the scissors from me. So I won't cut the pictures. At least that's why he tells me he hides them.....

Hi Bobby, I always see you on SG and Cass' sites and wanted to swing by. Funny post. Every woman in my family will cut themselves out of a picture if they don't look good. Sometimes leave their bodies in and just cut a circle for their heads.

I've never actually cut myself out of a picture......somehow the picture mysteriously dissappears. :)

Don't do this people! It's extremeley frustrating for your children and family in later years when they go looking for pics of you!!!

Babyjewels, thanks for stopping by. :)

Sherri, at least keep the pics hidden somewhere for later. Please.

Oh, thank goodness. Every time I checked your site (every hour on the hour)I had to look at those...those... freaky things.

Those mouths.

::shudders::

I don't cut myself out of pictures, and in all other places than this parent/student-accessible place, am fine with seeing myself in them. Regardless of the current shape of my hair, body, etc.

But! I was finally given permission to throw away pictures. I used to keep pictures, really bad ones of people, for years, because for some reason somewhere in my childhood I learned that you should never throw photos away.

So now I do, especially if there is a duplicate better one of the same person.

Of course, digital has changed all that. Imagine all the pictures taken that will never be seen, thanks to that little delete button.

Sad, in a way.

yesterday I posted at The Octagon and my word-ver came up "sgirl". No lie. Dammit, I should have taken a picture!

today it is "otzngxhn". Not as good.

That is strange...At least nowadays with photo shop, you could pretend Kim Basinger is your mom...hmmm..

Start telling people you are really Screech...

So I guess we never will get to see you in nurse's costume...bummer...

Never throw a picture away. I have a rubbermaid tote in my closet stuffed with terrible pictures of myself. LOL

My childhood is littered with unfortunate photos of which one can only say: "My! That little boy went through an ugly phase!"
To which myself--or someone else in the know can only respond: "At least she grew out of it; lost the braces and the glasses, and got over the bowl cut.

LB, sig other, Almost 5 years now.

Serena, I went through several of those, strangely accompanied by phases of extreme cuteness. Weird.

Bobby...I knew I liked you for a reason...
I figured it out on my own...I am so proud...
yes, I stalked your whole blog.
Come to LA sometime, the scene here in LB is the bomb...

Bobby said...

would love to, we just went to San Francisco for the first time this summer. Virginia is SO oppressing.

And you should win some sort of prize if you stalked my whole blog. The early stuff is pure crap, family bulletins and all.

You look like you would be fun to hang out with. :)

its amazing how these blogs evolve, isn't it..my friend non moron has been blogging for years, and i barely started a month ago...its fun! i just want to express random crap as it comes to mind...
i enjoy your artistic way of conveying humor...i like humor where people dont have to type something funny and end it with LMAO. (no offense to anyone who uses that term)
You seem like a fungi!!!!

Bobby said...

LB, yes, I much prefer humor that doesn't have to smack you in the face with it. (Altho getting smacked in the face has it's own merits, but you know what I mean.)

I started mine to update friends and family, cause I was too lazy to email. Well, actually, because I was tired of emailing everyone and not getting any back.

But it's much more fun this way. And everything I have typed is all me, in one twisted form or another.

And it might be the bourbon, but the word verification has been extra tough tonight.

I had to wait until SG, Seahag and I finished our group hug.

Damasta, someday, trust me, you or friends will regret you not being in more pictures.

Msbrooksie, that pic scared some people away, I hope they come back some day. I will try not to do that too often. Thanks!
