For those who are tired of my whining.....

Please move on if you are tired of hearing of my whining about a job. And yes, I have now lowered my standards and I am looking for any job pretty much that pays something, but even those people say I am over qualified and won't stay.
Argh. I do have something in the works, something I am not sure I am qualified for, but that I convinced the hiring manager I was, so as soon as my background check clears (it will), I have a final interview in a few days. It is not the perfect job, but is actually the highest paying job I have applied for. (I am qualified for it, just haven't really done the exact job before.) It is a few more hours than I am used to, and it would mean being on call pretty much 24/7, but as the old saying goes, "It's always easier to find a job when you already have one." which is a pretty stupid saying if you ask me.
Otherwise, Justin was in and out of the hospital again, same issue, apparently what he had can become chronic after a while, or totally go away at any time, never to return.
Life is wonderful, life is great, I am going to get that job, or a job this week. I can't really write well right now, or write about some of the funny stuff going on, as I am consumed by jobs, job hunting, tweaking my resume, etc. but hopefully all of that will change soon.

Job Hunting sucks.....

I have a good resume. I have good experience. I'm outside of a major metropoloitan area. What's going on?

I've been on the other side of the hiring business as well, and I know people can get busy, and hiring isn't always the top priority. I also realize that you lose a lot of good people by not acting fast, because someone else will hire them. (Hint hint, people, I'll be snapped up soon, HIRE ME!)

Anway, Justin's working at least, and we have a lead on an apartment (the mayor's wife gave up the tip, we're hanging out with some classy people now.) I am starting my search for a not so great (re: crappy) job today, just to bring in some money while I continue to job hunt for a job I am used to and pays a little better.
And just so everyone knows, I did NOT move here because I am closer to cheap cigarettes and better bourbon (and cheaper). I have to keep re-stating this fact, and yes, I have probably smoked more and definately drank more since I have been here, but it's a pure coincidence. Promise.

I'm usually nice, but sometimes...

My new feature, "I'm usually nice, but...."

It's time for my new feature, I am usually nice, but sometimes......

I am usually nice, but sometimes, people just tick me off so bad, that I just have to say something, and boy, are you in for a doozy. First off, This is me to the left, you can see how nice and sweet I am, so I don't say things unless they are true and totally accurate.
UPDATED: May 2010. This is how I am usually nice. I removed the post originally posted here, as while not necessarily mean spirited, it was all true, it just really didn't need to be here. So see, I can be nice, and if you thought otherwise, F* you. :)

ok, the trial thing....

So a while back, (no, scroll down, I will not insert a link here, I am too lazy) I mentioned some of you may have seen me on the news, saying "no comment" about 5 times. The funny thing was, the reporter from the local news started to introduce himself, and I said, in a totally sarcastic voice,

"I know who you are. Big fan."

I ended up being featured in the news stations commercials, with some fast paced music playing, and me saying just "BIg Fan", and so many people saw it, argh.

Anyway, if you want to know what it was all about, click here. The woman in the mugshot is my sister in law. I may post the pic of the "man/boy" as well, since he is over 18 now and all, but who knows?

We made it back to Louisville, (right outside of it anyway) with only a tornado and thunderstorm warning to drive through, and are now job hunting at my Aunt's house.

Seriously, click the link, read the comments, they're funny. And I have better pics of her if we debate how "hot" she may be. (She's cute, but not super hot or anything.)

Oh, and sis in law, if you're readin this, your welcome for everything, thanks for telling me thank you, and thank you for being such a.... anyway, things are well and job hunting already, wish us luck everyone.

You thought we moved a lot before....

Yes, most of my gaps in posting in the past have been blamed on us moving, but usually within town.

Now, we temporarily moved to Texas, things aren't quite working out, and we are headed North. (Not back to Virginia.)

May be a few days before I post again, but will be retracing some of the states I mentioned a few posts earlier, so wish us luck.

Tick Tock....

Justin is out of the hospital and feeling better, not perfect, but better.

So, how hard is it to find a place to live in 48 hours, and oh yeah, a job?

I am guessing pretty hard, but still going to try.

Tomorrow may be my last chance to post for a while, but we'll see. Thanks for the emails and comments, it's good to know you are all still out there, and hopefully doing better than we are.

Life is a highway....

MY last post ended with....

Life is an adventure, and I am riding it along right now.....

Now, Justin and I are coasting. The deadline(s) are looming, and oh, did I mention Justin ended up hospitalized Friday evening, and is still there now? Makes it a little hard to get jobs, look for a place, etc. (and keep an eye on the dog at my friend's house who is moving this weekend.)

Life is now not so much an adventure, but a scary ride where you aren't driving, you have no idea where you're being taken, and you feel shit out of luck.

He may be getting out tomorrow, but the doctor hasn't come today yet, so who knows....? I will try to keep you posted, at least until Friday where I lose my connect to the internet for a while again, maybe, who knows for sure?

I picked a lousy time to stop sniffing glue. Coming soon, plenty of info on the hospital as soon as he's out.

Conclusions about random States....

Below are the states we traveled through on our recent journey, and conclusions I made....

Virginia - Move along unless you're just like us. And you will never be just like us.
West Virginia - Move along, we increased the speed limit so you can get through the state faster, but we priced our gas higher, our rest stops (with restaurants) are overpriced, and we have toll roads you can't possibly avoid.
Kentucky - We've kept the speed limit up too, but please stay and enjoy our horses. (Take that anyway you want to.....)
Indiana - I cant really say too much, as I only saw a bit, but they actually have full service gas stations there still. I didn't know anyone had those. And the price was still lower than West Virginia.
Tennessee - Please stop and see either a retired country star's museum, restaurant, amusement park. OR, buy something about Elvis. I mean, he's still alive and making money off of it, it's not just s state tourism thing. Really. He was just spotted visiting a Burger King in Idaho.
Arkansas - We've closed all of our rest areas, and most places won't have public restrooms. Move along, we don't want you actually seeing how freaking weird we are.
Texas - I'm not sparing Texas. Until we hit Central Texas, there were still left over signs from Arkansa to repent, and that God was waiting to meet us at the next exit, etc. SO I will give Central Texas it's own entry....
Central Texas - Although it has changed, a lot is still familiar and wonferful (the lake and the people.) Justin continues to lobby to move to Indiana/Kentucky though, so who knows.....

Life is an adventure, and I am riding it along right now.....

jokes gone wrong.....

Seriously. Can't she just take a joke? (Really, I would have been pissed, too.)

I'm not trying to offend anyone....but,

geez the drive down to Austin was strange. There are some strange, weird people in this country, people you usually only see on television or movies and think "that can't be real."

oh, it's real. and scary.

anyway, we made it to austin, and of course hit rush hour with traffic at a complete standstill, the temperate was 104. Yes, 104. (Unusual for this time of year, and oh, did I mention we have no A/C?)

So, off to job and house hunt. The countdown to "no money" is on.

Really?

Yes, really.

I am alive. Justin is alive. Believe it or not, we left our hometown the other day, and we are now in another state, with relatives trying to convince us to live here, when we were on our way back to Texas. (Austin, the good part of Texas.)

My best to all of you, especially those of you who still stop by, seeing if I have posted anything lately. I am using my cousin's computer right now, but who knows when we get to Austin??

I will post as soon as I can, everyone take care!!

I'm not dead, really.

Ok, so yeah, I totally haven't been posting but really REALLY soon, I will. The cool thing is that some of you have see me without knowing it, on a news clip that made some decent headlines.

Like I told the reporter, "No Comment", but as soon as the trial (not about me) is over, I can comment all I want, heh heh.

I can title my posts again!!

Unfortunately, I just didn't feel like coming up with an actual title.

Anyway, start my new job on Tuesday, I was the first of three interviews, and I was offered the job about 1/2 an hour after my interview, and amusingly enough, before the other two people interviewed at all. (Shh, don't tell them, they might get upset at me.)

Still in good ol Human Resources, but I will be getting into new stuff I've never done, so good all around.

Stressful weekend though, as we are moving (again) from city life (gunshots, assaults, break ins, etc.) to peaceful country living. The cool thing is that even though I am out in the country, my drive to work is going to be shorter with less traffic than before!

As soon as I get all moved, I will play some catch up on everyone's blogs, as I know I am behind.

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

Blogger decided it wouldn't let me title this post.... typical.

Oh well, the title was going to be crap anyway. Had a promising call this morning about a job, yes, still looking. My small severance package is long gone, heh, and I need to get back to work!

Hope everyone had a great fourth of July. Besides Justin trying to launch a firework into four of our faces (accident), we had a good time.

Here's my rant for the day though, I went to cash a check at WalMart, since the bank was closed and I needed some money, and the woman said my driver's license picture didn't look like me. She called a manager over, he said it was me. So I asked why she thought it wasn't me, other than I hadn't shaved in a few days, and she said, "Oh, you've gotten fatter since that picture."

Yes, she went there. Ok, I have gained weight since that picture, but I am not fat. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But she said this right in front of her manager, and most places I've ever worked in retail, the manager would have told her to say she was sorry, or said he was sorry to me, or gave me a five dollar gift certificate, or something. I got zip.

Ironically, she was fat.

Anyway, I will keep you updated on the job, keep your fingers crossed.

Keepher

A long, long time ago, for those of you who have been around with me, I told you I got a digital camera and would start posting some pics.
Well, I only thought it appropriate the first personal pic would be of my baby, Keepher.
He looks kinda sad here, but really, he was just posing. "Contemplative" is what I think he was going for here.

Job Hunt Week 2

Ok, so it's really week 1, as during week 1 I really just browsed online, went to the placement service that got me my last job, and waited for my severance check to arrive.

However, I was motivated today as I found out my severance check isn't coming for two more weeks and the check for today (which will arrive in the mail who knows when?) is only for one week. Better than nothing, yes, but trust me, I have put some people off until today as today was supposed to be my "big check". My ex manager called to let me know I left some personal stuff behind, and I let her know they should have had someone better prepare the letters (oh, I don't know, someone thorough, competent, experienced, you know, like me) as the letter had numerous mistakes.

The biggest, in my favor, was that the letter made it seem like my health insurance ended on May 31, when in fact it ends June 30. I am thinking of being entirely reckless for the next two weeks so they have to foot the bill.

Anyway, I got my resume in, and now I am waiting for the calls to pour in, as I kick ass. (No, humility is not listed as a skill on my resume.)

I will keep you posted, all four of you who still stop by.... and I may try to update my link list I never finished.

Fill in the blank.....

When all else fails.....

You must be insane, drunk, or high.....

Not really, I am here. Major work, major pc issues, and I was avoiding posting from work, lest I get into trouble, and ironically my position got eliminated. Along with 4,000 other people if that tells you where I worked. I was at their corporate office, and apparently, when you don't have as many employees, you don't need as many Human Resources people, let alone the more expensive ones.

Yes, I am expensive. :)

Hope all is well in your lives, unless some amazing job that doesn't require lots of OT comes up real soon, I will blog away until the internet is turned off.

I have some leads here and there, but nothing solid yet, but hey, it's the first week of the rest of my life. (that didnt even convince me, so don't worry.)
